Printer-Friendly Results Page with Master Form V4
Master Form, throughout its versions and transitions, has
always been able to present results pages customized with
information the user provided. It's one of the features our
customers like about the software. (A list of some other
features is at the /mfv4 product
description page.)
A week ago, we found Master Form V4 needed another feature.
Thus, a new version has been developed, version 4.1. (Owners
of previous Master Form V4 versions can always obtain the
latest version at no charge.)
We found a need for the new feature while creating the new
http://TellThePresident.US/ web site. This is a site to
facilitate the writing of messages to the President of the
United States of America. The process culminates with a
letter on a printer-friendly page to be printed and mailed.
During testing, we noticed a problem.
When more than one paragraph was typed, it was all globbed
together into one block of text in the generated letter.
The site was to have a "powered by Master Form V4" credit.
So the software was modified for a new feature that puts
information on custom web pages into paragraph tags, under
a specific condition.
The specific condition is the presence of a hidden field
in the form which names the field or fields to be put into
paragraph tags. Appropriately, the hidden field's name is
"paragraphize" and it's value is a list of fields the
feature shall be applied to.
At the http://TellThePresident.US/ site, the hidden field
is on the second page of the multi-page form, and it looks
like this:
<input
type="hidden"
name="paragraphize"
value="Message_For_the_President">
The page after that presents the letter generated for the
President of the United States of America, with the message
nicely put into paragraph tags, on a printer-friendly page.
It's a nice touch for already terrific software!
